Check out our frequently asked questions before hitting the Meander River, Tasmania.

Our wetsuits go from a XXS to a 3XL size, these fit me at 6”4 and 120kg! The suits contain a 3mm long-john and a 3mm jacket that goes over the top, completely covering you.
-
As well as our brand new inflatable river sleds, we supply:
Wetsuits
Life jackets
Helmets
‘Wet socks’ (don’t worry, these are rubber boots - not soggy socks!)
Thermals (if required)
Gloves
-
Bathers or undies to wear under the wetsuit are both perfect! Bringing a towel for after the trip is also a great idea. If you normally wear glasses, a great alternative is contacts, however we do supply ‘stretchy bands’ (chumps), that are made to hold glasses on your head. *Remember to take off jewellery.
Also be sure to pack:
Your sense of adventure!
Warm clothing to change into at the end of the tour
A towel
-
We recommend leaving any valuables in your car. However, another option is to leave your belongings in the hall, this is where we will do our introductions. Car keys can be left in the bus, which will take you to and from the river.
-
River sledding is suitable for children who meet the height restriction of 130cm. If younger children are accompanying a family group and do not meet the height restriction, they are still able to experience the thrill alongside our river guide in an inflatable kayak. Talk to us about your specific needs!
Note - Children under 18 must have their form filled in by a parent or guardian. Children are permitted to take part in the tour without an accompanying adult and will be cared for by our guides.
-
No! Lots of people are concerned about being cold, however this simply doesn’t happen. You will be in a 3mm long-john and a 3mm jacket that fits over the top, this means you have 6mm of wetsuit material over your core. You will also actively be paddling down the river, continually engaging all muscles. Finally, you are on top of a river sled for the majority of the time, and so whilst you will get wet, you are not constantly submersed in water. You will not get cold!
-
Our tours run for a minimum of three hours and a maximum of four hours, this includes transport to and from the river and your time sledding. You’ll spend 1.5 to 2 hours on the water, depending on the conditions.
-
If you’d like to book a tour outside these times, this can be arranged. River sledding is a great team-building activity and we cater for private, school groups and corporate groups, simply fill in our contact form or contact Daniel directly on 0427 731 934.
-
$150 per adult
$130 per child
-
To get maximum enjoyment out of the tour, you need to be able to use your upper body to paddle some sections of the river. We recommend as long as you can put on a wetsuit, swim at least 20 meters and are confident in the water, you’re good to sled!
